Troubleshooting

This tutorial describes the troubleshooting for configure eduroam on Android.

Possible problems:

On some devices, running under Android 4.4, using Chrome browser to generate IHEP personal certificate as an downloaded output eduroam.cer file can appear instead of eduroam.p12. Files with .cer extension are not recognised by Android system. The problem is caused by Chrome browser and it is only extension type of file which makes it unable to install. The certificate file is correct. Solutions to install personal eduroam certificate on such Android devices are presented below:

  • Change extension of eduroam certificate file form .cer to .p12. Unfortunately standard Android browser can't do this. Extension change can be done using additional application like File Manager. Change can be also done by connecting the device to computer with usb cable and access the certificate file through it.
  • Instead of Chrome other browser can be used to download certificate. Personal eduroam certificates downloaded with FireFox have the .p12 extension and are ready to install immediately.
